Advisory Council Achievements During 40th Regular Session
Doha, June 25 (QNA) - The Advisory Council Secretary-General, HE Fahd bin Mubarak Al Khayareen on Monday hailed the numerous achievements being realized during the Council's 40th ordinary session.
During this year's session, which concluded today, the Council has examined a number of important bills including the Decree- Law No. (14) of 2011 amending the Consumer Protection Law No. (8) of 2008 and the Decree- Law No. (16) of 2011 amending the Qatar Central Bank's Decree- Law No. (33) of 2006, HE Fahd bin Mubarak Al Khayareen said in press statement.
Among the draft laws examined during this ordinary session were a draft law allowing GCC firms to open branches in Qatar; a draft law on issuing the common system to extend the insurance protection coverage to GCC military working outside their countries; a draft law organizing media activities; a draft law amending the Law No. (7) of 1987 organizing the Control on GCC Nationals' Practice of Commercial Activity in Qatar; a draft law regulating the business advisory services; a draft law on autopsy; a draft law on the organization of tourism; a draft law on the protection of the State's land borders and secured areas and a draft law regulating ship broking professional activities.
This ordinary session also examined a draft law amending the Decree-Law No. (10) of 1974 pertaining to the establishment of Qatar Petroleum (QP); a draft law amending the Law No. 11 of 2003 establishing the State Incentive and Encouragement Awards for Literature, Arts and Sciences; a draft law draft law on the Qatar Central Bank and regulating financial institutions; a draft law concerning Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA); a draft law amending some provisions of the Law No./21/ of 2004 on the ministers; a draft law amending the Law No. (10) of 2002 on Public Prosecution; a draft law on educational coupons system; a draft law amending the Advocacy Act, issued by Law No. (23) of 2006.
HE Al Khayareen also reviewed the Council's achievements on the general debates in terms of non-residential real estate rents; unification of school holidays; medical services and health cares; major highways and security and safety precautions.
The 40th session also examined the draft biennial budgets for the years 2012-2013, 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 besides the major public projects of the state's draft budget for the fiscal year 2012/2013.
Concluding, HE Al Khayareen expressed deep gratitude and appreciation for HH the Emir and HH the Heir Apparent for their effective and unlimited support for the Council.
He also thanked the Government for its cooperation the Council by attending its various meetings and sessions.
He further hailed the great efforts being exerted by the Advisory Council's Speaker, Deputy Speaker and members to facilitate the smooth performance of its duties. (QNA)
