Abadi's Regional Visit Is An Important Step To Strengthens Its Influential Role

Baghdad, Iraq (NINA) - "The visit of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to Saudi Arabia and some countries of the region is an important step that strengthens Iraq's influential role," the head of the Foreign Relations Committee, Abdul Bari Zebari said. He told (NINA) that "The visit to Saudi Arabia is more important than the rest of the visits in light of the desire of the two sides to strengthen their relations towards serving the two countries and the region in general," "The visit of the prime minister to Kuwait and Iran is normal to strengthen relations and discuss the regional situation, especially the Gulf crisis," Zebari said. "The disagreement of Saudi Arabia and other countries with Qatar will be not the only subject in the talks of the Iraqi delegation, but also in the regional and international scene." Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubair announced that Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi will visit Riyadh next Monday. "We are looking forward to re-establishing relations with Baghdad to the best and we welcome this visit," al-Jubair said in a press statement from London. He added that "Saudi Arabia was one of the financiers of the international coalition against Daesh in Syria, and we believe that the great and strong effort against it will ensure its defeat." Abadi is scheduled to meet with King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and will hold a series of joint talks with Saudi officials. Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said recently that his visit to Saudi Arabia is not related to the Gulf crisis and the dispute with Qatar. / End
