668 thsd hectares of spring crops sown in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, June 14, 2022. /Kabar/. As of May 23 this year, about 668 thousand hectares of spring crops have been sown in Kyrgyzstan, which is 5 thousand hectares more compared to the last year, the National Statistics Committee of the republic reported Tuesday. An increase of spring crops is due to an increase of cotton - by 9.5%, spring barley - 9%, oilseeds - 4% and potatoes - 3%. Along with this, the areas of spring wheat, leguminous crops and sugar beet were reduced. Farms of Chui Oblast accounted for the largest share in the total area of spring crops - more than 33%, Osh and Issyk-Kul Oblasts - about 15%, as well as Jalal-Abad Oblast - more than 13%. In highland areas of Jalal-Abad, Issyk-Kul and Osh Oblasts the works on sowing of spring crops continue.
