300 Students In Bangka Belitung Receive Scholarships From Taiwan

PANGKALPINANG, July 13 (Antara) - As many as 300 senior high school and vocational school graduates in Bangka Belitung province have received scholarships to study at universities and take apprenticeship in company in Taiwan. "The provincial government has been cooperating with four universities and one company in Taiwan to allow youths of this province to receive better education," Bangka Belitung Governor Erzaldi Rosman Djohan said after attending the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bangka Belitung provincial government and Taiwan here on Wednesday. He said the provincial government facilitated the youths to study at the universities and take apprenticeship in the company. The scholarships purely come from the universities, he said. "This program is good for the youths' future. In four years' time, they will study (at the universities) and later take apprenticeship at the company in Taiwan," he said. In the first stage, 66 students have registered with the organizing committee to study at the universities and take apprenticeship in Taiwan, he said. There are still great changes for other youths of the province to receive such scholarships, he said. "This is a good chance for the youths to pursue higher education and find good jobs. We hope that the parents will support them so that they will have good competence," he added.
