13,002 New COVID Cases, 108 More Deaths
BANGKOK, July 21 (TNA) – The country logged its record high of 13,002 new COVID-19 cases and 108 more fatalities while the government closed 10 more kinds of places in maximum and strict COVID control zones.
The Public Health Ministry reported that the 13,002 new cases comprised 11,953 among general people and 1,049 among prison inmates. Since April 1, there have been 410,614 cases.
Over the past 24 hours, 8,248 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals and there were 108 new COVID-19 fatalities, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, Dr Apisamai Srirangson, assistant spokesperson for the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration, said the center increased the types of closed business premises and public and activity venues in 13 provinces under maximum and strict COVID-19 control from 23 by 10 in a bid to contain the virus.
The 23 places previously ordered to be closed included entertainment venues, massage parlors, cockfighting rings and boxing stadiums. The ten additional places were all sports fields; swimming pools; sporting grounds; exhibition and conference centers; learning centers; public libraries; museums; nurseries; beauty salons, hair salons and tattoo shops; and public parks.
