BANGKOK, Oct 16 (TNA) – The Royal Thai Police has planned to dispatch 10,000 police officers to provide security and direct traffic at the venues of the 35th ASEAN summit and related meetings during November 2-5. Pol Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk, deputy national police chief said that Intelligence reported possible gathering of some political dissidents at the summit venue, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi. However, he said the police have prepared measures to maintain order. Leaders of 18 countries have already accepted to participate in the meetings. The Cabinet resolved to designate Nov 4-5 as special holidays in Bangkok and Nonthaburi to reduce traffic congestion during the meetings. Pol Gen Suwat said the security plan is 70 percent readiness.
