‘Toon’ receives Bt16 million during charity run in Nakhon Si Thammrat

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, Nov 12 (TNA) - Famous rocker Artiwara Kongmalai, better known as Toon Bodyslam, now running to collect charity money to assist 11 hospitals in Thailand, received 16 million baht in donation from local textile tycoon in the southern city of Nakhon Si Thammrat. Toon started running and heading for the heart of the city at about 5.00 a.m. under the rain. People living in the city were seen lining along the road to donate money to Toon. Sunday’s highlight is at Wat Phra Mahathat Woramawihan, the province’s main Buddhist temple, where the provincial governor handed him money, amounting 16 million baht, donated by the provincial textile millionaire Jimmy Chawala, to help the financial ailing hospitals. Toon has started running from Betong district in southernmost province of Yala and will end his charity running in the northernmost province of Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai district. So far, people who admire him have donated nearly 200 million baht to help finance the hospitals. (TNA)
