‘Big Cleaning Day’ in Bangkok’s Outskirt Area
BANGKOK, December 11 (TNA) - The government on Sunday organised a ‘Big Cleaning Day’ in Bangkok’s outskirt area of Don Mueang which was under deep flood in recent months and handed 5,000 baht to each family suffered from the disaster.
Several agencies and people from all walks of life joined in the event, presided over by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
Yingluck gave away 5,000 baht to each family affected by flood of which members of more than 1,000 families in the area received the cash along with relief kits.
Electricians and car engine repairers also helped in fixing electric systems and cars in 11 areas in Don Mueang district.
Families were happy after receiving the money assistance from the government and said they would spend it on repairing their damaged homes. They also asked the government to give similar help to every family suffered from flood.
Yingluck, meanwhile, told people there that concerned agencies would accelerate on draining out floodwater in some areas which are still inundated.
December will be the month of rehabilitation to celebrate His Majesty the King’s birthday, she added. (TNA)
