Is There A Glimmer Of Hope To Hold On To East Jerusalem?
By Ismail Amsyar Mohd Said
This is the last of the two part series on the Jewish conspiracy to carve out the Palestine state. This second part looks into the American hegemony over Palestine and Israel's ruse to claim the land where the Al Aqsa is located now .
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 (Bernama) — US President Donald Trump’s decision on recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital comes of no surprise. Even during the his election campaign in 2016, Trump had stated that he would recognise Israel’s claim on Jerusalem and shift the US Embassy there from Tel Aviv. And he kept his word.
The US president was the trump card for the Jews in realising their dream of having Jerusalem for themselves. For so long since 1948 Israel only held West Jerusalem and East Jerusalem belonged to Palestine. However, Trump’s decision on Dec 6 literally gave the whole of Jerusalem to Israel on a silver platter. For Palestine and the Arab world in particular, it was a great anguish.
Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCARE) chairman Dr Hafidzi Mohd Noor noted Washington has always worked in favour of Tel Aviv and even interpreted the definition of “occupied territories” in UN’s Resolution 242 as “disputed territories”.
“There’s a very big implication on the interpretation of the terms used,” he explained adding that this gave leverage for the Jewish state to stake a claim on the occupied territories.
TRUMP’S DECISION BACKED BY EVANGILICAL CHRISTIANS?
However, one may ask why the decision on Jerusalem is so important for the US. The answer probably lies in the US itself rather than Israel.
Hafidzi noted the rise of the “white supremacy” in the US of late had a hand to play. He claimed that many of the white supremacists were from Christian Evangelist groups that had strong affiliation with the Zionists.
“Religious wise, they (Christian Evangelist) hold to the belief that the Jews must return to Zion (Israel) and that is the pre-requisite for the unfolding of the Armageddon (the end of time).
“So based on this belief, the evangelists supported the idea of the birth of the state of Israel. And when Trump made that announcement, it was a moral victory for them,” he said.
And for Israel, Jerusalem would help draw and maintain the Jewish Diaspora there as the ancient city is mentioned in the book of Torah, said the CEO of Aman Palestine Awang Sufian Awang Piut.
“They have been promoting Jerusalem’s religious significance to the younger Jews and the goal of building a new Solomon’s Temple on the site of the 144,000 square metre Al Aqsa mosque. They are made to believe ‘the holiest of the holy’ site is right there,” he said.
As for Awang Sufian, the Jews would not return to Israel if not for the holy site of Mount Zion, the site of the Solomon’s Temple as believed by the Jews.
“This is why they want to tear down the Al Aqsa to rebuild Solomon’s Temple on the same site. They have been digging tunnels on the pretext of looking for the remnants of the Jewish Temple underneath the mosque but in fact they just want to weaken the mosque’s structure so that it would come down on its own.
“Yet so far they haven’t recovered any evidence that the temple had existed there. Jerusalem serves as a magnet to draw the Jews to Israel and build the Solomon Temple to strengthen their claim over the city,” he added.
HOPE FOR MUSLIMS TO SAVE JERUSALEM
Muslim nations stood their ground against Trump’s callous decision and took up the matter through the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The draft resolution to denounce the US decision was vetoed by the US at Security Council on Dec 13, although 14 nations had voted in favour. The same draft was tabled at the UN General Assembly on Dec 22 by Turkey and Yemen where the majority of members voted to denounce Trump’s decision.
“This means when UN implements the resolution on Jerusalem, it overrides US’ decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,” he said adding that this provides a glimmer of hope for East Jerusalem to remain with Palestine and Muslim world.
“In a nutshell, it goes to show if Muslims unite and speak in one voice through OIC, Israel’s violation of Palestine can be put to a stop,” he added.
