Explosive Device Goes Off During Training, Kills Four

Azeman Ariffin JAKARTA, March 29 (Bernama) -- An explosive device went off during a training stint at a university in Sulawesi Tenggara today, killing four people and severely injuring eight others, according to local online news portals. The incident occurred at about 4.30pm (5.30pm in Malaysia) during a training on destruction of explosive devices at the Universitas Halu Oleo, Kendari, they quoted Sulawesi Tenggara Police chief Agung Sabar Santoso as saying. One of the four, all of whom died on the spot, was a member of an elite police anti-terrorism and explosives team and the three others were security guards of the university, he said. Agung Sabar said preliminary investigation showed that a technical fault triggered the explosion. -- BERNAMA
