Al Nuaimi: English Doesn't Hamper Admission at CCQ, Plans to Appoint Qatari Professors
Doha, January 02 (QNA) - Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh al Nuaimi who is charge of running the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) has said that the CCQ will sign tomorrow ,Tuesday a partnership with Qatar University that would allow CCQ students to continue their education at QU.
In an exclusive interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA) on Monday, Al Nuaimi said that CCQ is keen that students continue their education at QU as the mother univeristy in the country.
CCQ graduates who have "participation certificates" will be allowed into QU provided that they have overall high scores and joining QU is a good step for CCQ graduates, Al Nuaimi said as he expressed wishes for students to be able to join universities at Education City and other universities as well.
Al Nuaimi said that CCQ offers two-year programmes for any student who has a background in English; during the two years, students finish 60 continuous hours to graduate with a "participation certificate" that allows them to enroll at QU, Education City universities and even universities abroad to get a bachelor degree.
As for students who don't have a high school degree, Al Nuaimi told QNA that CCQ has future plans and programmes to qualify them for a "participation certificate." Replacing the dean wasn't done for professional reasons but only because he finished his term," dr.Al Nuaimi explained as he pointed to the continuity in CCQ management.
Faculty, staff and buildings cover CCQ needs according to Al Nuaimi but he expected the college to add more buildings as student numbers grow beyond the current 750-800 students.
Al Nuaimi didn't rule out opening branches for CCQ in other cities especially in certain fields of study such as management so as to meet the needs of the market.
CCQ is keen to give educational opportunities for as much students as possible, dr.Al Nuaimi added noting however that the CCQ will allow studnets with minimal background in English and will offer them programmes to improve their language. (QNA)
