THAI launches bio-fuel flight

BANGKOK, December 21 (TNA) - The first bio fuel flight of Thai Airways International (THAI) roamed the sky on Wednesday, paving the way for the national flag carrier's maiden commercial flight in Asia steered by the green alternative fuel on Thursday. THAI President Piyasvasti Amranand said that the first bio fuel Boeing 777-200 flight, taking off from the country's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 2pm, was part of THAI's corporate strategies on social and environmental accountability, aimed to encourage other regional carriers to follow suit in order to reduce future consumption of non-environmentally-friendly fossil-based fuel. Piyasvasdi affirmed that the THAI flight, TG104, will make Asia’s debut for the commercial bio fuel aviation service on Thursday on the Bangkok-Chiang Mai route, with its proceeds to be contributed to Thailand's green energy research organizations.
