Pabuk Tropical Storm Reduces Visitors To T'ganu's Beaches
KUALA TERENGGANU (Terengganu, Malaysia) Jan 3 (Bernama) -- Strong winds and turbulent seas along the coastline of Terengganu due to the Pabuk tropical storm have affected the number of tourists at the beaches here.
A survey by Bernama found that it was quieter than normal, with most visitors taking the opportunity to capture selfies and videos of the 'aggressive' waves.
However, they were seen leaving the beach after being advised to do so by Malaysian Civil Defense Force (CDF) personnel patrolling the area.
Terengganu Disaster Management Committee secretariat chief Lt Col (Rtd) Che Adam A Rahman said they could not stop people from being at the beach, however, those that do come should remain vigilant.
The Meteorological Department had earlier issued a yellow alert signalling strong winds as well as risk of damage to property and falling of trees.
Tropical storm, which is travelling westwards across the Terengganu and Kelantan coastline brings wind speeds of up to 40km per hour, with waves above 3.5m.
