Turkish trade minister criticizes EU's visa regime on Turks

BRUSSELS (A.A) - Turkey's customs and trade minister on Tuesday criticized European Union's visa regime on Turkish nationals despite Turkey's full compliance with its obligations that stemmed from the Customs Union agreement. "Our friends in the EU say, 'let's do business," but the visa regime says, 'let the goods move freely but not the people.' This is a mentality which I find difficult to understand," Hayati Yazici told a meeting of the European Parliament on women entrepreneurship in Turkey.    "If goods will move freely and their owners should be able to move freely, too," he said. Also speaking at the meeting, EP's Turkey Friendship Group member Anna Maria Corazza Bildt said she supported Turkey's bid for visa-free travel for Turks in EU countries. "This is how we could boost interaction between the two sides and overcome mutual misunderstandings," Bildt said.
