Turkish industry minister says rise in exports over rise in imports

ISTANBUL (A.A) - December 14, 2011 - Turkey's science, industry and technology minister said on Wednesday that the rise in exports was over the rise in imports thanks to measures taken.
Nihat Ergun said measures the government had taken to cut down current balance had started to be effective.
"Now we have started to see the outcome of these measures, and we will take more steps that will have more significant results in coming days," Ergun said during a meeting in Istanbul.
Ergun said Turkish economy grew 8.2 percent in the third quarter of 2011 and became the second fastest growing economy in the world following China.
"I believe that 2012 would be a better year for Turkey, and the rising trend will continue," Ergun said.
Ergun also said he believed Turkey would catch up with and surpass the growth rate of 4 percent in 2012.
