Turkey's current account deficit in decline trend
NEW YORK (A.A) - December 15, 2011 - Turkey's deputy prime minister said on Wednesday that the current account deficit was in decline trend.
Ali Babacan said that the current account deficit was on the rise in Turkey for some time, but this course had stopped.
"Current account deficit is in decline trend right now, and we expect it to be around 8 percent next year," Babacan told a press conference in New York.
Babacan said Turkey foresaw current account deficit to fall gradually in coming years, and projected a current account deficit around 7.5 percent in 2013 and 7 percent in 2014.
The minister said economic growth would be lower in 2012 than 2011, and noted that the inflation was 9.48 percent in November 2011 but the year-end inflation might be higher.
Babacan also said there was a serious decline in unemployment, and economic indicators had a positive course.
