Total And Qatar Petroleum Int'l to Carry Out Joint Venture Abroad

Doha, December 07 (QNA) - Qatar Petroleum International Co. and France's Total are poised to carry out joint ventures abroad and bilateral talks are under way. Nasser Jaidah, executive president of the Qatari company said on Wednesday on the sidelines of the 20th World Petroleum Congress in Doha that a project in west Africa is one of the close targets. He gave no details. He noted that Qatar Petroleum International had formed an alliance three years ago with Total to carry out a production-sharing contract in Mauritania in cooperation with Algeria's Sonatrach. Total is exploring oil in Taoudeni basin in north Mauritania, one of the country's biggest onshore oilfields. (QNA)
