Thailand’s inflation up 2.56% in June
BANGKOK, July 2 (TNA) – Thailand’s inflation in June rose 2.56 per cent year-on-year while the Commerce Ministry is confident that inflation during the calendar 2012 would increase between 3.3-3.8 per cent in line with its projection, said Yanyong Puangrach, permanent secretary for Commerce.
He said the June increase in inflation was attributed to price rises in several items of food including rice, chicken meat, egg, fruits and non-alcoholic drinks.
Inflation during the first six-month this year jumped 2.95 per cent from the same period last year, Yanyong said.
There are signs that inflation during 2012 would be between 3.3-3.8 per cent in line with the ministry’s projection, he said.
However, there are risks including problems from global economy, especially in Europe, natural disaster, and volatility in forex and interest rate which might impact the country’s inflation, Yanyong added. (TNA)
