THAI TOURISTS TRAVELLING MONGOLIA SHOW HIGHEST GROWTH

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ According to the first half of 2018, the number of foreign travelers who visited Mongolia increased by 9.7 percent, compared with the same period of the previous year. 61.7 percent of the inbound travelers came from the East Asia and Pacific region, 31.9 percent from Europe, 4.6 percent from America and remaining 1.8 percent from the Middle East, South Asia and Africa. Most of foreigners or 84.2 percent travelled for up to 30 days, 14.3 percent for more than 90 days and remaining 1.5 percent for 30 to 90 days. There are 202.7 thousand or 85.1 percent of foreign travelers visited for tourism purposes, showing an increase of 21.9 thousand or 12.1 percent compared with same period of the previous year. The remaining 35.4 thousand passengers or 14.9 percent came for purpose of work, study and permanent residence. The notable growth was observed in tourists coming from the Kingdom of Thailand (79.6 percent), the Republic of Turkey (58.7 percent), the Republic of Indonesia (47.1 percent), the Russian Federation (28.7 percent) and the Republic of India (26.3 percent).
