Sudanese President Launches Electricity Project Funded by Qatar at Cost of $ 208 million

Khartoum June 23 (QNA) - Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Sunday launched the start of work on a project of electricity line carrier of in the Sudan's River Nile State (Atbara - Abu Hamad ), with the length of 310 kilometers, and at a cost of $ 208 million, funded by the State of Qatar. Qatar was represented at the inauguration ceremony by HE Assistant Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmad bin Hamad bin Jabor Al Thani. The Sudanese president hailed role of Qatar in support of peace and development in Sudan .. Saying, "Any achievement in development, reconstruction and peace is one of the achievements of the State of Qatar." For his part, HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Jabor Al Thani, stressed Qatar's support for Sudan, noting the developing ties between the two countries in the political, economic and other fields. He added that the project aims to provide a stable and continuous electricity for residential , agricultural and industrial areas at the River Nile State He also extended thanks to all those who contributed to the success of this project. The project is set to be implemented within 24 months. (QNA)
