Qatar Tourism Authority Plans to Build on This Year's Successes in 2012
Doha, December 04 (QNA) - Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) hopes to build on this year's successes like enhancing the country's status as a top destination for luxury and business travel in 2012, the QTA said Sunday in a media statement.
The QTA showcased Qatar's expanding tourism industry at two premier trade shows this year.
The QTA delegations to the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) in Cannes, France (December 5 to 8) and the Exhibition for incentive, Business Travel and Meetings (EIBTM) in Barcelona, Spain (November 29 to December 1) showcased the many options that Qatar offer to international tourists.
The QTA Chairman Ahmed Al Nuaimi said the two consecutive European events rounded off a highly successful year for Qatar's tourism industry.
"The year 2011 has been a landmark one for Qatar's hospitality industry and these two events have been an amazing opportunity to showcase the growth of the nation," Al Nuaimi said. "We have seen not only a host of new hotels opening but also the landmark Qatar National Convention Centre as well as successfully hosting a range of high profile world leading events.
"In 2012 we hope to build on this success, bring more high end luxury and business travellers to Qatar as well as continue to prove that we are a destination of choice for large scale events."
QTA's pavilions have proved extremely popular with agents and buyers at both the events which are key gatherings for industry professionals and decision makers.
The EIBTM brings together all the major players from the global meetings and incentive industry and is one of the biggest and best-attended exhibitions on the annual Meetings, Incentives, Exhibitions and conferences (MICE) calendar.
Representatives from Qatar's key hospitality, travel and tourism sector are partner with the QTA at the three-day event.
The ILTM is the leading 'by invitation only' luxury travel event in the world. This year the QTA hosted the 'VIP Buyers Lounge' as well as meeting with highly influential buyers, agents and other travel professionals, the statement concluded. (QNA)
