Qatar Motor Show to Display Supercars of Top Italian Designers

Doha, January 01 (QNA) - The Qatar Motor Show, the international salon dedicated to the world of cars and engines that will open to the public from 25 to 28 January 2012 at the Doha Exhibitions Center, will host concept cars, super cars, and prototypes that will get the public and other enthusiasts dreaming. Following the success of the first edition, the Gruppo Carrozzieri Autovetture ANFIA Associazione Nazionale Filiera Industria Automobilistica (the Italian Association of the Automotive Industry) once again proposes the collective presentation of "Made in Italy" with some classics as well as interesting innovations. Organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) in collaboration with Q.media Events and GL events, the Qatar Motor Show will host five Italian brand names which will be exhibiting their creations in a dedicated area of spectacular impact: Bertone, Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, I.DE.A. Institute, Pininfarina and UP Design. Bertone, founded in 1912, is one of the oldest and most prestigious firms of "Made in Italy" in the automotive sector and has been on the forefront of technological and stylistic evolution throughout its first century of existence. Over the years, leading manufacturers worldwide have entrusted Bertone with the creation of vehicles that are outstanding for their avant-garde style, technology, and performance. Qatar Motor Show 2012 will be the perfect opportunity to present the Jaguar B 99 (pictured) (where the B stands for Bertone and 99 stands for the firm s age): a compact sedan that looks towards the future with refined elegance and classic signature features of the Jaguar name. Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera has chosen the Qatar Motor Show 2012 for the Middle East debut of its Gumpert Tornante, a super sporty roadster developed in collaboration with the German car manufacturer specialised in the construction of GT with extreme performances. Qatar Motor Show 2012 will also offer an opportunity to discover the new challenge launched by the I.DE.A. Institute, a development centre founded in 1978 by the entrepreneur Franco Mantegazza and the famous architect Renzo Piano, that applies a 'turnkey' logic to the entire life cycle of a model, from the concept to production. The star is "Futura": a sporty elegant "sedan-coup?". The special features of this concept car are the large and protruding grille, the ultra-thin LED headlamps, the front mudguards that evoke vintage heights, and the particular rim on the side that draws the eye along the classic line to the high and tapered rear end. The mechanical specs boast a front-mounted 8-cylinder engine with optional front or rear wheel drive and, if desired, an integrated hybrid system. In Qatar, Pininfarina will present "2uettottanta": a concept car to celebrate the company s 80th anniversary and, at the same time, pay homage to the "Casa del Biscione" by evoking the myth of the Duetto. Elected "Car Design of the Year", the "2uettottanta" represents the innovative vision, projected into the third millennium, of the 2-passenger convertible. It seduces motoring enthusiasts with its strong aesthetic appeal, making all their dreams come true while having fun. UP Design, founded in 2010 by Umberto Palermo with head offices in Torino, is the ultimate design centre for "Made in Italy". It stands for the innovative conception of a design studio, where the interpretation of the typical forms of Italian style meet the innovative capacity and the wide range of intervention settings. The versatility of the content is a key point for UP Design, building its products around the human: from car design to lavish architecture, from niche products to everyday products. In Qatar, UP Design will present something absolutely new: the world premier of "Vittoria", a 2-door sports car to be produced in a limited edition. (QNA)
