Qatar Exchange Index Gains 37.56 Points in June

Doha, July 01 (QNA) - Qatar Exchange index gained 37.56 points (or 0.41%) in the month of June 2013 when trading closed on the last day of the month at 9,275.56 points compared to May 2013. The trading value during June increased by 12.34% when it reached QR 8,793,875,958.11 compared to QR 7,828,099,891.79 the previous month. The trading volume increased by 2.27% to reach 234,446,011 shares compared to 229,253,356 shares. The 97,644 transactions in June is a drop by 6.03% compared to 103,907 transactions noted in May 2013. Banks and financial services sector led the traded value in June with 37.22% of the total traded value. Real estate accounted for 20.73%. Industries accounted for 20.19%. Consumer Goods and Services accounted for 7.68%. Transportation accounted for 6.84%. Telecoms accounted for 4.58% and insurance accounted for 2.77%. The market capitalization rose by 0.20% at the end of June 2013 when it reached QR 510,992,574,258.29 as compared to QR 509,975,631,700.61 at the end of May 2013. Real estate sector led the traded volume in June with 34.05% of the total traded volume. Banks and financial services accounted for 31.47%. Industries accounted for 10.67%. Transportation accounted for 8.90%. Telecoms accounted for 7.07%. Consumer goods and services accounted for 5.94% and insurance accounted for 1.90%. The number of trading days in June were 20 and 22 in May 2013. From the 42 listed companies, 23 ended the month of June 2013 higher while 16 fell and three remained unchanged. (QNA)
