Qatar-based news channel offers $40.5 million for state-seized Turkish TV station

ISTANBUL (A.A) - Al Jazeera on Friday placed a $40.5 million bid in a bargain for the sale of a Turkish national TV station, which had been seized by Turkey's savings deposit insurance fund.
The Qatar-based news network initially offered last Monday $21 million for TV channel CINE 5, once owned by bankrupt media mogul, Erol Aksoy.
Al Jazeera's offer was set to be submitted to a higher fund board for approval.
The Arabic network has said it would launch broadcast in Turkish in the first quarter of this year.
