Qatar Airways Orders Nine Boeing 777 Aircrafts
Doha , June 17 (QNA) - Qatar Airways announced Monday that it has ordered nine Boeing 777 passenger aircrafts during the Paris Air Show.
The company said in a statement it released to the press today that the new aircrafts will help the airline open up new routes and add capacity to its existing network.
The latest order raised the number of Boeing 777 aircrafts the airline ordered from seven to 16. It will also boost its fleet of 777s to 51 aircrafts. Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said in the statement that 777 aircrafts will aid Qatar Airways in operate more direct non-stop flights from Doha to destinations such as Australia and the United States. He also said that the airline was looking to open up new destinations in the United States, and the new 777 aircrafts will play a big part in achieving that.
Qatar Airways have continuously expanded its 777 fleet ever since it got its first delivery back in 2007. The airline now flies to a number of key long-haul destinations such as Europe, Africa, Asia, North America and South America.
The Paris Air Show is held every two years and is considered one the world's biggest aerospace events. It attracts more than 2000 participants from across the globe.
Qatar Airways is one of the fastest-growing airlines in the World. Its fleet consists of 125 aircrafts that fly to 128 destinations. (QNA)
