Qatalum Launches Magazine to Highlight Gas Role in Aluminum Production

Doha, December 24 (QNA) - Qatar Aluminum (Qatalum) announced launched its first magazine named (Al2to3gether) to highlight the significant role played by natural gas in the process of aluminum production. In a press release issued today, Qatalum said the launch of the magazine comes in the context of providing an open forum to discuss ideas and ambitious plans which the company staff is planning implement to achieve the interest of the company and the staff, in addition to reminding of the great achievements the company makes on a daily basis. The press release said the name of the magazine (Al2to3gether) symbolizes the spirit of teamwork in Qatalum and reflects the excellence of the company and its ability to meet challenges as a unified work team. It added that the magazine (Al2to3gether) comes at an appropriate time when the company's achieved its maximum production after seven years of dedicated work, noting that the company's goal is not simply to build and operate a world-class aluminum smelter, but also to contribute to the steady growth and future prosperity of the State of Qatar and to add value through human development, economic diversification and sustainable processes and results. The production capacity of Qatalum totals 585 thousand tonnes per year of high quality primary aluminum where production takes place through two parallel smelting lines with the length of 1.2 Km each. The facilities of Qatalum include a carbon, transport and storage units and a power generation plant. The smelter, which is furnished with state-of-the-art equipment, produces value-added products that meet the highest standards of quality, safety and international environment which are used as raw materials for many industries such car industry, construction, engineering industries, manufacture of consumer products, and for other uses.(QNA)
