More digital technology to be applied to Thai industries

BANGKOK, June 26 (TNA) - The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) says that the domestic industrial sector now needs to apply more innovative digital technology to production and energy management processes. FTI Chairman Supant Mongkolsuthree raised the issue at the “SMART ENERGY EXPO 2019”, organized by FTI in Bangkok on June 25, where the innovative digital technology was focused and presented to show how it can be applied to the more efficient energy management in the Thai industrial sector. Supant pointed out that the Thai industrial sector uses energy about 38 per cent of the total energy demand in the country, second only to the domestic transportation sector, and its energy demand is likely to be on a rising trend. According to the FTI chief, the innovative digital technology is, thus, a practical alternative for the more efficient energy management of the Thai industrial sector with lower costs, compared to the traditional energy management system. The FTI chief acknowledged the innovative digital technology that should be now more applied to the Thai industrial sector include the Internet of things (IoT), the Big Data and the Energy Management System (EMS), as well as the so-called High Efficiency Product and the System Integrator (SI). Representatives of the Thai public sector, including those from the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society also took part in Wednesday's SMART ENERGY EXPO 2019 to provide knowledge and information on the trend of alternative energy in Thailand to participants and visitors.
