Mitsubishi Wins Fertilizer Plant Order from Turkmenistan

Tokyo, Aug. 19 (Jiji Press)--Mitsubishi Corp. <8058> said Tuesday that it has won a 1.3-billion-dollar contract to build a large-scale urea fertilizer plant in Turkmenistan jointly with a Turkish construction company. The major Japanese trader and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. <7011> will be responsible for the designing of the plant and procurement of necessary equipment. The Turkish company, Gap Instaat Yatirim ve Dis Ticaret AS, will undertake construction of the plant, which will be capable of producing 3,500 tons of urea fertilizer per day. The fertilizer will be made using ammonia produced from natural gas. Construction of the plant will begin in the first half of 2015, with production seen starting in 2018. END
