Ministry of Business Organizes Workshop to Raise Awareness of WTO Agreements

Doha, April 16 (QNA) - A workshop to raise awareness of the agreements of the World Trade Organization (WTO) kicked off here Tuesday with participation of 30 officials from the government and private sectors. The three-day workshop is organized by the International Cooperation and Trade Agreements Department at the Ministry of Business and Trade in cooperation with the WTO, as part of the Ministry's activities aiming at raising awareness of the WTO agreements and the multilateral trading system. The participants represent several bodies interested in the topics relevant to the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS), such as the Ministry of Business and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Environment, Qatar Central Bank, the Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology, Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Chamber and of Commerce and Industry and Enterprise Qatar. WTO experts will clarify issues related to the General Agreement on Trade in Services, which is one of the WTO agreements, and the regional integration in terms of trade in services, with a focus on some of the service sectors of importance to the State of Qatar.
