Lusail Participates in Key Infrastructure Conference in London

Doha, July 03 (QNA) - Lusail City Real Estate Development Company (LREDC) highlighted the significant role of Lusail City in infrastructure development of Qatar at a key industry conference in London. Speaking on the opening day of Qatar Infrastructure Projects 2012 conference, Lusail CEO Engineer Essa Mohammed Ali Kaldari identified the necessary ingredients needed to deliver one of the region's largest Greenfield mixed-use developments to date. "Lusail City will provide a superb living environment by combining well-planned residential, commercial, hospitality, mixed-use and entertainment districts, balanced with open spaces and parks with each district boasting its own distinctive features. The carefully planned development promotes a family environment and fosters multicultural and inclusive community values," said Eng. Kaldari while addressing the audience comprised of key British, European and Qatari stakeholders. "A city built for the future has to set new industry standards. Lusail City takes pride in leading the Green Cities legacy. It is the first city which adopted our home-grown 'Qatar Sustainability Assessment System' known by the name QSAS. We are part of a country that thinks and delivers big. Lusail City forms the silhouette of this modern Qatar," he added. In offering a project update to the attendees, the official explained that work on the Construction Package 1, which will witness the completion of the first phase of the Lusail City development, featuring the Marina and Wadi Districts, is progressing as per schedule with the road network approaching near completion, landscaping underway and the first of the plot building developments also on track for timely completion. "While we are at the center of the most intense construction activity in the country, arguably the world, we of course face a number of challenges as well. These are a direct result of implementing groundbreaking solutions, some of which have never been tested before, and therefore possibilities of partnerships abound," said Eng. Kaldari. "As more British firms look to Qatar to increase partnership venues, Lusail City is in a niche position to facilitate their entry into a market where opportunity beckons every step of the way," he added. According to Eng. Kaldari, the vision for Lusail City is to be a self-contained, holistic city that is all-inclusive for its residents and workers and welcoming to its visitors. It has been master-planned to accommodate 200,000 residents, 170,000 workers, and 80,000 visitors. "Every day, our team is implementing extraordinary ideas for efficiency and safety. We are ever busy in devising new methodologies to compliment the innovative solutions as new technology often requires new tests. The direct route to sustainability, after all, is via innovation," he said. "Through QSAS, Lusail City demonstrates the full commitment and ability of Lusail Real Estate Development Company and our parent company Qatari Diar to contribute towards accomplishing the objectives of Qatar Vision 2030, in terms of sustainable development, and by being leaders in Qatar's sustainable real estate sector ultimately promoting a sustainable built-environment," added Eng. Kaldari. LREDC, together with parent company, Qatari Diar, is showcasing its flagship project at the four-day Qatar Infrastructure Projects 2012, where senior company officials are also engaging with delegates from across Europe on the back of rising interest in the largest-ever construction undertaking in Qatar.
