KAHRAMAA Annual Planning Forum Gets Underway
Doha, January 22 (QNA) - A two-day Annual Planning Forum 2013 organized by Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) began on Tuesday to discuss KAHRAMAA's various plans for the upcoming five years.
At the opening session of the Forum, HE the Minster of Energy and Industry Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada said KAHRAMAA attaches great interest to its consumers.
HE the Minister of Energy and Industry said a steady increase in the production and consumption of electric power was reported last year. A total of 34.8 GWh of power was produced, an increase of 13 percent, he said, adding that the maximum load was 6255 MW, an increase of 16 percent, considering what was supplied to the aluminum plant in Qatar.
KAHRAMAA's real load was 6090 MW, an increase of about 13 percent, he said, pointing out that the extra generating capacity resulted mostly from the rising industrial activities. It is an important indicator for the growth of the national economy, Al Sada added.
The maximum water production reached 437 million cubic meters per year, an increase of 9 percent, HE the Minister of Energy and Industry added.
KAHRAMAA's President Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari highlighted the achievements made by KAHRAMAA over the past year in meeting the demand for electricity and water in accordance with the high quality international standards.
He pointed out that KAHRAMAA has been seeking to implement a number of strategic projects including National Campaign for the Conservation and Efficient Use of Water And Electricity 'Tarsheed', mega reservoirs, and the eleventh phase of a project to develop a electricity transmission and distribution network, among others.
