Iranian president inaugurates petrochemical complex

Azerbaijan, Baku, May 21/Trend M. Moezzi/ President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attended the inauguration of the Arvand Petrochemical Complex in the Persian Gulf port city of Mahshar, the Islamic Republic News Agency reports. Arvand is one of the world's biggest polyvinyl chloride (PVC) producers, with the capacity to manufacture more than 2.8 million tons of petrochemicals annually. The complex costs $1.6 billion to build. Ahmadinejad will attend the official opening of two other petrochemical projects in Mahshahr. The Arvand complex worth $1.6 billion will produce caustic soda in Iran which is used in a wide range of products including paper, textiles, soaps and detergents, Mehr news agency reported. The complex with annual PVC production capacity worth 240,000 tons would claim 25 to 30 percent of the world market for Iran. The second pier for loading petrochemicals, already in operation for a year, will be also officially inaugurated at the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (PETZONE) which is located the Persian Gulf Mahshahr port, Abdol Hossein Bayat, Managing Director of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), said earlier. The equipment installed at the second pier takes its annual loading capacity from 1.6 million tons of petrochemical condensates to 5.5 million tons. Do you have any feedback?
