Georgia, European Free Trade Association sign declaration

Georgia, Tbilisi, June 29 / Trend, N.Kirtskhalia / Georgia and the European Free Trade Association signed a declaration on cooperation in trade and investment. The signing ceremony took place in Switzerland, where Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Vera Kobalia is on the visit. Members of the European Free Trade Association are Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. The signed declaration envisages cooperation in the investment sphere and concluding an agreement on free trade with these countries. As Kobalia told reporters after signing the document it is not only an economic but a political decision, as Georgia receives an opportunity to export its products to the markets of the association member countries. "We are also given an opportunity to make a diversification of exports to other countries and not to be dependent on one region," Kobalia said. According to the chairman of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Johann N. Schneider-Ammann, Georgia has great potential. "We are going to deepen our cooperation with it. I hope that we will reach a free trade agreement soon," he said. Do you have any feedback? Contact our journalist at agency@trend.az
