Food security cooperation reviewed

Manama, Oct. 20 (BNA): Agriculture and Marine Resources Undersecretary Dr. Nabil Mohamed Abulfateh met the Australian Embassy Agricultural Advisor Dr. Glen Edmonds. The two sides reviewed cooperation on food security. They discussed furthering the cooperation especially regarding the quarantining mechanisms and applicable measures in this regard. The Australian side appreciated Bahrain's decision of lifting the ban on Australian melons. Dr. Abulfateh reaffirmed the ministry's keenness on entering into partnerships with the various countries to avail from their expertise to boost the farming and fisheries sector in Bahrain as well as organize training courses for Bahraini staff to upgrade technical expertise in these sectors. Assistant Undersecretary for Agricultural Affairs Dr. Abdulaziz Mohamed Abdulkareem and Director for Flora Resources Hussain Jawad Al-Laith were also present during the meeting held at the Agriculture and Marine Resources Agency building.
