Floods prompt Bank of Thailand to review cash distribution

BANGKOK, November 8 (TNA) - The current flood crisis in and around Bangkok has prompted the Bank of Thailand (BOT) to review its cash distribution to ensure there is enough cash in circulation. BOT’s Assistant Governor for banknote management Nopporn Promojaney said if Rama II road was flooded, the transportation of banknotes from the Note Printing Works, the country central note printing factory, on Buddha Monthon 7 road would become difficult. The central bank has, therefore, supplied more banknotes to its 10 Banknote Operations Centres in the northern provinces of Chiang Mai and Phitsanulok and the northeastern provinces of Nakhon Ratchasima Khon Kaen and Ubon Ratchathani, said Nopporn. The BOT’s assistant governor added that there will be enough cash to meet public demand for the next months. (TNA)
