The First Atlas for national development and food security launched in Iraq

BAGHDAD / NINA The Ministry of Agriculture , in cooperation with the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas ( ICARDA) and the U.S. Agency for International Development , launched on Sunday the first Atlas for national development and food security in Iraq . A statement by the department of relations and media and international cooperation in the ministry said that the atlas is part of a project for coordinated support for the development of agriculture ( harvest ) which is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development . The statement quoted the head of the geographic information / ICARDA / Chandra Ashikhar Briadar as saying that Atlas provides the national development and food security with a comprehensive set of information, which gives the decision-makers and the research community the information they need to develop reforms and strategies that increase agricultural productivity and reduce poverty and enhance food security. The Iraqi Atlas for national development and food security contains a complete set of development data. The atlas is the first of its kind in the Arab countries and is associated with the Arab comprehensive Atlas. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture initiated the implementation of a campaign of vaccinations against epidemic diseases in all provinces. According to a ministry statement said that the campaign includes vaccination of cows and buffaloes against foot and mouth disease and the vaccination of sheep and goats against brucellosis and PPR. He added that the Department of Veterinary implements this campaign freely, according to an annual plan for this purpose. / End
