Facilities launched in Iran's Qeshm Free Trade Zone

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 10 By Elnur Baghishov – Trend: A total of 14 facilities have been commissioned in the Qeshm Free Trade Zone in Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) with an investment of 11.6 trillion rials (about $276 million) and 340 million euro, Trend reports citing IRINN. According to the report, 3,540 people were employed with the commissioning of these facilities. “The first unit of the terminal on crude oil and gas condensate export has been put into operation in Iran's Qeshm Free Trade Zone at 117 hectares of land. About 150 million euros has been spent on this unit. And this section has the potential to export 3.2 million barrels of oil per day,” the report said. According to the report, the daily export potential of this terminal will increase to 6.5 million barrels with the commissioning of the second unit of the oil terminal. The 2nd unit is planned to be commissioned by the end of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021). “Also, the second unit of the Thermal Power Plant has been commissioned in the zone with an investment of 190 million euros. This unit has the potential to generate 170-megawatt hours of electricity. With the commissioning of the 3rd unit of this thermal power plant, a total of 500-megawatt hours of electricity will be generated at this TPP,” the report noted. According to the report, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and other officials attended the event dedicated to the commissioning of facilities via a videoconference.
