EDB-BTECH cooperation discussed

Manama, Sept. 29 (BNA): The Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH) held a meeting with the Economic Development Board (EDB). The recent meeting reviewed horizons of promoting bilateral cooperation aimed to continue developing the information and communication technology (ICT) sector in the Kingdom. BTECH members were briefed by the EDB representatives on the board’s vision for the development of the sector, its plans and programs that are being carried out in order to attract more foreign investments to work in the Bahraini market and even to make Bahrain their headquarters to work in the neighboring markets. The board’s efforts to open foreign markets to Bahraini IT companies were also explained. BTECH, gave a presentation on its activities, vision and mission, events it holds and its goals which are mainly about enhancing the ICT sector’s contribution to the national economy and contributing in the preparation of legislation, policies and strategies related to this sector in order to enhance its performance and develop services and products offered by its subsidiaries companies. For his part, BTECH president, Ubaidli Al-Ubaidli, assured the society’s permanent readiness to promote horizons of work with the EDB to effectively contribute in achieving the board’s vision and objectives related to ICT sector and raising the sector’s contribution to the national economy. Al-Ubaidli emphasized that such cooperation would greatly benefit the ICT companies in Bahrain at various levels like their growth, developing services they provide as well as their products. This cooperation, he said, encourages business and initiatives posed by pioneers in the ICT field. Al-Ubaidli pointed out to the importance of integration between all those working in the ICT industry in Bahrain from both government and private sectors. "Since its establishment in 2012, the BTECH has been working through its members to strengthen the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position in the ICT markets regionally and globally as well as developing the competency of national economy in this side," he concluded.
