Dr Mohamed Bin Saleh Al Sada Opens Third Gas Processing Symposium

Doha, March 05 (QNA) - Under the patronge of HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani , the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Dr Mohammed Bin Saleh Al Sada who is also board chairman and the managing member of Qatar Petroleum (QP) on Monday opened the third international symposium on gas processing . In a speech he delivered before the opening session , Adel Ahmed Albuainain , the managing director of Dolphin Energy Limited said after welcoming their Excellencies, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,'' The 3rd Gas Processing Symposium is strengthening the link between education and industry and driving important alliances that will put in place measures required for future success. Education is a key pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and I would like to take this opportunity to honor the vision and efforts of HH the Emir, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani and HH the Heir Apparent, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. The symposium s existence demonstrates the practical steps being taken to ensure this country will meet the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030. And the support illustrated by the presence of leading academics and corporate entities like Dolphin Energy reflects an endorsement that the efforts of Qatar University and other leading educational institutions to support the Vision are recognized. If ever you needed a shining example of the role of natural gas as a driver of sustainable economic development, then surely Qatar is it. In my view, this year s theme, Diversity in Natural Gas Utilization will not only help to highlight the transformation of this great country but also set out the strategies at play that will ensure future prosperity for all. And it s success that will not be felt only in the towns and cities of the State of Qatar. There are many compelling examples to highlight the impact the hydrocarbons industry is having on the local economy and its growing population. One only has to look at the plans for the development of the petrochemicals sector which is set to double production capacity and help sustain GDP growth to see the benefits that can be taken from development and expansion. But the export of Qatar s resources is having a positive impact at a regional and international level. Dolphin Energy exports natural gas to the UAE and Oman, supporting industrial development and economic diversification. We provide 30% of the UAE s energy requirements, supporting power generation and vital desalination processes. In addition, Qatar plays a vital role in the GCC Interconnection Grid which is helping meet demand for electricity supply across the region. And as the leading LNG supplier in the world who can ignore the impact that the country s exports is having across the region and around the world. In a short space of time, Qatar has gained the respect of its peers in the local, regional and international energy industry. In addition, the vast income from oil and gas has helped Qatar build and manage its international profile. The Qatar Investment Authority is creating a diverse and broad investment portfolio that brings prestige, pride and of course influence. Without question, the revenues generated from gas are helping to build world class infrastructure, driving downstream development and the production of a highly skilled labor force. Private enterprise and innovation are embraced and the private sector is undergoing dramatic expansion, he said. Adel Ahmed Albuainain , the managing director of Dolphin Energy Limited further said,''However as it does so, the need to hold the principles of sustainability becomes all the more critical and the reason why the development of the National Development Strategy so important. While diversifying income streams and expanding the economic base to help alleviate the dependence on oil and gas and the development of new sectors will help drive the country forward is essential, economic prosperity must be balanced with environmental stewardship and social development. Plans to incorporate this commitment to sustainability lies at the heart of the National Vision 2030. The role and use of natural gas as the world s cleanest fossil fuel means environmental impacts can be minimized to complement the efforts of driving the commitment to sustainability and the chase of a low carbon economy. Dolphin Energy has supported and will continue to support - Qatar Petroleum in the ongoing development of the Sustainability Development Index. Despite our young history, we have developed a solid track record on sustainability reporting and will continue to offer our insights and experiences to help the development of the Index further. And we will continue to support efforts to embed sustainability further. In terms of Social Development, Dolphin Energy will continue support community initiatives that enhance the wellbeing of people through charity, sport, culture and the arts and education. And we will continue to develop positive relationships with the educational institutions in Qatar providing opportunities for young, talented Qataris to learn more about this sector and working life at Dolphin Energy, advancing our commitment to employing Qatari Nationals. We invest a lot of time, resource and money to undertake programs that encourage Qataris in to the sector work placements, internships, schools and university visits and attending career fairs really make a difference. Our role with Qatar University will continue and I look forward to developing initiatives and opportunities that support the objectives of securing employments for Qatar Nationals. Before I finish, I would like to add the following. Attending this event and preparing this short speech has given me a chance to reflect on how far Qatar has come. We are witnessing fantastic change in this country. Ambition, determination and drive are setting the pace and are values we share at Dolphin Energy. The company is a proud passenger on this journey. Qatar s success is our success and I am really excited about what the future has in store for us all, Adel Ahmed Albuainain concluded.(QNA)
