Doha Jewellery and Watches Expo Set to Open February 20

Doha, February 05 (QNA) - The ninth edition of the week-long Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) which opens here at the Doha Exhibition Centre (DEC) on February 20 will feature over 300 exhibitors and around 450 brands. Announcing details Sunday at media conference, officials representing expo organisers of Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) said, more than 60,000 local and international visitors are expected to attend the exhibition, sponsored by Qatar national Bank (QNB), from February 20 to 26. Among the top luxury brands from Europe and the Middle East showcasing their products include Van Cleef and Arpels, Chanel Haute Jewellery and Vacheron. QTA Internal Exhibitions head, Lahdan Al Mohannadi said, "The high quality profile of the exhibitors and artisans this event continues to attract has helped to make this show one of the most successful and sought in the Gulf and the world for retailers." QTA Director for Tourism Abdulla Al Bader said, "The QTA is committed to promoting Qatar as a first-rate destination for business, industry conferences, cultural events, education, sports, leisure and providing world-class amenities and services." In a statement on behalf of the sponsors, QNB Corporate Relations AGM Salem Al Naimi said, "QNB's participation in this event conforms to the bank's vision of contributing positively in the development of every aspect of Qatar's economy and it is also an opportunity to express our commitment to supporting the local community at all levels. QNB's role is not just limited to a financial contribution. It is an active participant in various initiatives, events and societal activities as part of our social responsibility programme, he added. Last year, the eighth edition of DJWE recorded over 50,000 visitors, many coming from the GCC region. "The volume of sales done during that exhibition was around QR 500 Million," a QTA official said, in reply to a question. (QNA)
