CPF:Food product prices will keep rising
BAGNKOK, January 25 (TNA) - Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CPF), Thailand's leading agro-industrial conglomerate, says that prices of food products will likely keep rising, mainly in line with world energy prices.
When giving his assessment on the upward trend of food products prices in the country, Adirek Sripratak, CPF President and Chief Executive Office (CEO), indicated that more vulnerable weather conditions, caused by the climate change, could also reduce food supply chains and could lead to shortages of food products in some certain periods of time subsequently, amid continual world energy price hikes.
As a result, Adirek suggested, the Thai government encourage more cultivations of energy crops, but taking into account efficient land management and balanced utilization of land for food and land for energy crops, as well as increased irrigation areas.
Adirek acknowledged that CPF’s investment in food businesses in China and Vietnam has been on the rise, thanks to growing population in the two Asian markets and promotional programs offered by Beijing and Hanoi. (TNA)
