Consumer confidence index up in November
ANKARA (A.A) - December 16, 2011 - Consumer confidence index increased 1.5 percent in November when compared to October in 2011.
TurkStat said on Friday that the index, which had been 89.7 in October, rose to 91 in November.
The increase in the consumer confidence index stemmed from the improvements in consumers' assessments concerning purchasing power in the present and next period, general economic situation in the next period, job opportunities in the next period and buying time condition of durable goods in the present period.
In monthly consumer tendency survey, which was carried out with cooperation of TurkStat and Central Bank, consumers’ assessments on current situation and their expectations for personal financial standing and general economic situation have been evaluated and their expenditure tendencies for near future have been measured. The consumer confidence index calculated from the survey results can take value between 0-200.
It indicates an optimistic outlook when the index is above 100, but it gives a pessimistic outlook when it is below 100.
