Bahrain Shopping Festival second edition announced

Manama, Nov. 10 (BNA): Tamkeen's Acting CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, said the cost of "Bahrain Shopping Festival" in its second edition reached BD 1.5 million. The advertising and media campaign associated with the festival launch costs BD 500,000. The second edition of Bahrain Shopping Festival will run from 24 December to 23 January. The festival will include spectacular international entertainment performance and promotional offers. The festival aims to stimulate the national economy, attract tourists, Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa said. The second edition is a continuation of the record success achieved in the first edition. The organizing committee has pledged all its efforts and closely worked hand-in-hand with its partners from the private and public sectors to ensure the festival's success this year, he added. This came during the press conference attended by Tamkeen's Acting CEO and Board of Director's Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Shaikh Khalid bin H'mood Al Khalifa the Assistant Undersecretary for Tourism, Jawad al-Hajawj the Head of Retail Trade Sector in the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Maher al-Massallam, Acting CEO of Gulf Air, Olayan al-Wateed, CEO of Viva Bahrain, Sabine Faris regional director of American Express, and Nawaf al-Kooheji the festival's director. The new name of the festival is "Bahrain Shopping" which is the biggest shopping festival in the Kingdom in which more than 2000 retail shops participated. An estimated BD 18 million revenue was achieved by the private sector during the festival, according to Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa during the press conference.
