Azerbaijan sees slowdown in maritime exports

The volume of cargo transportation by sea from Azerbaijan amounted to 227,350 tons in the first ten months of 2020, decreasing by 19 percent compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing the report of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (SCC).
According to the SCC, Azerbaijan exported $72.6 million worth of goods by sea, which is 42.2 percent less compared to a year earlier.
The committee said that cargo transportation by sea from Azerbaijan was carried out in the amount of $494.9 million, while a year earlier this figure was 35.1 percent less.
During the reporting period, the volume of cargo transportation by sea amounted to 768,400 tons, having annually decreased by 39 percent.
The import of goods by sea over the mentioned period amounted to 541,100 tons, and in monetary terms - 422.3 million dollars, an annual decrease of 33.7 percent.
From January through October 2020, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover made up over $21 billion, which is 25.7 percent less compared to the same period of 2019.
