Azerbaijan reveals half-year maritime cargo movement figures

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 21 By Fidan Babayeva – Trend: The volume of export of goods by sea from Azerbaijan decreased by 10.8 percent from January through June 2020, and amounted to 166,540 tons, Trend reports citing a report of the State Customs Committee (SCC). According to the committee, Azerbaijan’s export of goods by sea was carried out in the amount of $51.4 million, a decrease of 62.7 percent. In the reporting period, Azerbaijan carried out maritime cargo transportation worth $253.1 million, which is 59.9 percent less compared to the same period of 2019. In 1H2020, the volume of cargo transportation by sea amounted to 470,835 tons, which is almost 41.3 percent less compared to 1H2019. Imports of goods by sea during the reporting period amounted to 304,290 tons. In monetary terms maritime import operations amounted to $201.7 million, showing a decrease of 58 percent. In 1H2020, Azerbaijan's trade with five main trading partners amounted to $6.6 billion, or 59.5 percent of the country's total trade turnover.
