Al Sada:Global Gas Demand to Rise by 50% in 2035

Doha, March 05 (QNA) - Global gas demand will rise by 50% by the year 2035, according to Qatar's Minister of Energy and Industry, Mohamed Saleh Al Sada. Addressing the Third Gas Processing Symposium, he said on Monday that gas currently met 20% of global energy demand. Referring to the expansion in the use of gas worldwide, he said that the utilization of gas in power-generating stations, as compared to coal, reduces gas emissions by 60%. He said the far-sighted vision of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al Thani helped make optimal use of the country's hydrocarbon resources, foremost gas as a major source for clean energy. Qatar is seeking to develop its economy to be more competitive and diversified and more environment friendly, hence Qatar's Strategic Vision of 2030 has emerged to balance sustainable economic development and environmental development, the minister added. Al Sada cited the symposium as an example for Qatar's incessant endeavours to enhance the gas industry , make gas available to consumers and promote clean energy researches. (QNA)
