Azerbaijan, Baku, Aug. 10 /Trend S.Isayev, T. Jafarov/
Afghanistan will have its own way to Europe, via the railway from north eastern Iranian town of Khaf, to Afghan city of Herat and further to the Persian Gulf, deputy at the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development Ahmad Sadeghi said, ISNA reported.
Khvaf County is a county in Razavi Khorasan Province in Iran. The capital of the county is Khvaf. It is a small border town about 350 km from Mashhad.
The 191-km railroad line will help make transportation between the two neighbours faster and safer. 76 miles of the line is in Iran while the remaining 115 kilometres is in Afghanistan.
Sadeghi said the road will be inaugurated till the end of this year, adding that currently the work is in progress to finish placing the rails on the road.
He added that Iranian Railroad Company is taking necessary measures for supplying trains and cars for the railroad.
Sadeghi said the railroad will be used for both passenger transportation and transportation of various goods, adding that the maximum speed for passenger trains would be 160 km/h, while the speed for goods transportation would be 100 km/h.
