2009 BECOMES RECOVERY YEAR IN TURKEY THANKS TO BABACAN'S CREATIVITY, ARAB BANKS' UNION
ANKARA (A.A) - 18.06.2010 - The Union of Arab Banks has said 2009 was a recovery year in Turkey thanks to Turkish State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan's creativity and decisive manner.
The magazine of the Union of Arab Banks said Babacan's economic and political skills would contribute to Turkey's prosperity and shape up Turkey's relations with the Arab world.
The magazine said Babacan helped Turkey overcome several problems during economic crisis.
It quoted Babacan as saying that despite negative impacts of global economic crisis, year 2009 was better than expectations in Turkey and Turkey weathered economic crisis thanks to sound economic measures.
International credit rating organizations upgraded Turkey's ratings during the period of economic crisis, it said.
The magazine said Babacan gave priority to lowering the number of unemployed people in Turkey and provided incentives to tourism, construction, manufacturing industry, mining and agriculture sectors.
It said Babacan had also served as chief negotiator and foreign minister of Turkey successfully.
