Indonesia Launches ASEAN Newsroom At The 43rd ASEAN Summit
JAKARTA, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- Indonesia has established an ASEAN Newsroom or “ASEAN News Office” at the media centre of the 43rd ASEAN Summit here to strengthen synergy between regional news agencies.
It is hoped that it will be able to increase the coverage of the ASEAN agenda in the future, as well as inspire other countries in ASEAN, and foster a spirit of togetherness among the people of the Southeast Asian region.
Indonesian Communications and Informatics Minister, Budi Arie Setiadi, in a statement said the cooperation of news agencies will encourage the exchange of information, strengthen news reports and expand the scope of reporting.
He said ASEAN Newsroom will also disseminate various programmes, activities and achievements in the Southeast Asian region through accurate, factual and truthful reports.
The ASEAN Newsroom operations centre will also be permanently built in the building of the Indonesian news agency, Antara, in Central Jakarta.
The launching of the ASEAN Newsroom yesterday was attended by Indonesian Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatics, Nezar Patria, and Antara principal director Akhmad Munir.
Also present were Indonesian Foreign Ministry’s Information and Public Diplomacy director-general Teuku Faizasyah and Indonesian Communications and Informatics Ministry’s Information and Public Communications director-general Usman Kansong.
