Floods in Surat Thani remain worrying

SURAT THANI, April 6 (TNA) - The flood situation in Surat Thani is still worrying. Main roads have been severely damaged and several vehicles have been swept off roads by floodwaters.
Nearly 5 kilometers of road surface on the Phunphin-Nongkri route has been damaged by flooding, causing the closure of the inbound lane. Small vehicles still cannot access the road.
The road from Surat Thani’s Meaung District to Surat Thani’s Airport remains submerged by 30-centimeter-high floodwaters. Trucks and big vehicles which had been swept off by floodwater were found lying along the roadsides.
Several residences remain flooded with water levels ranging from 60 centimeters to 2 meters in height.
Local authorities are trying hard to speed up the aid operation. They also warned people to keep a close eye on crocodiles after around 100 have reportedly escaped from a farm and fisheries research center during heavy floods. (TNA)
